Round 9

62 members and 1 guest showed up for the penultimate round of the regular season. Our very own favorite judge, Darren, pulled off a perfect 35 and with that has entered in playoff contention. It’ll be an exciting last round on November 29th!

Who says you can’t sit on the games?

This one’s even more comfy!

Daddy Richard is in control. Or he wish he was.

NorCal Solid State is a hit!

26 players showed up for the first (of hopefully many) NorCal Solid State. We played only Solid States (and 1 EM…) machines and the competition lasted 13 rounds/4 hours. Echa Schneider came over from Oakland and totally killed it! After 13 rounds, she had only accumulated 6 strikes, which was way ahead of the competition. Congrats Echa!

Thanks to all participants for coming out, and extra special thanks to the officials, Andreas and Brian for doing such a great job making sure the rules were followed.

Echa won cash and a very cool shirt from FreeGoldWatch!

Top 8 finishers. Brian, Allison, Echa, Ryan, Simon, Andreas, Per. (Tony had to leave early.)

Round 8 – Halloween!

On Halloween round, it is customary for members to come in costume (well, for some at least) and this year was no exception. Check out the great pinball related costumes in Gene’s pictures!

We had 3 players with perfect 35’s for the evening: Aaron, Josh, and Zac.

Pinball in the wake of Hurricane Harvey

Jared, Alex, Andreas, Jeremy

This tournament was a benefit for Hurricane Harvey victims. Together we raised $350 that will be sent to the American Red Cross. Thanks everybody who showed up! Special thanks for the donations from people who couldn’t come.

We had a lot of fun with this knockout tournament. Progressive strikes meant that every ball was important! We played 13 rounds in under 4 hours, and the main reason for the speedy conclusion was that we used Solid State and EM’s exclusively.

First place won $40, second $30, third $20, and fourth $10.

Round 4

A lot of the recent heat wave seemed to have been preserved in the bowels of FreeGoldWatch on this steamy Wednesday night. Fingers were slipping off buttons, but never mind, we had a blast as always! 69 players showed up and although nobody had a perfect round, Gabe managed to get 33, and current leader Zac had a 32.

See you on September 20th for round 5!

Allison is about to drop the hammer!

For Dogs’ Sake! A fundraiser for a dog rescue

Thanks to everyone who came and played and thereby helped out The Grateful Dogs Rescue in SF. Thanks also to those who came by and donated to the cause, which we raised $220 for in one fun afternoon.

We tried out a new format, progressive strikes in a knockout style tournament. 10 strikes and you’re out! It was a fun format, and I’m sure we’ll use it again in the future. The results are now corrected on Matchplay, but are also below:

1,Per Schwarzenberger,12220
2,Zac Wollons,21965
3,Roland Nadeau,49650
